About the Friends of the North Carolina Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped

The Friends is a 501 (ac) 3, tax deductible organization founded more than 20 years ago to support the work of the NC Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped. The Friends raise money to supplement the budget of the library. The majority of the funding for the library comes from the State of North Carolina. The Federal government provides books, equipment, and free mailing privileges The Friends have, over the years, steadily increase financial support to close the gap between what government can provide and what is needed. The Friends receive most of the money it provides through donations or bequests from concerned citizens. Each year the library requests money for programs and the Friends try to cover as much as possible. All donations to the Friends are tax deductible. Donors may also join the Friends as a supporting member. The Friends also provide volunteers to assist at the library and in Outreach and PR activities. We also act as a strong advocate for the library.
