Gift and Estate Planning

Photo of a blind man smiling as he opens a DTB.

Gift and estate planning is an extraordinarily flexible and simple way to meet your philanthropic and financial goals. Regardless of your stage in life, financial circumstances and charitable goals, let us show you how you can make a gift that supports literacy for all people, regardless of their physical abilities.

There are a wide range of options for planned giving that include gifts through your will:

  • Bequests: Support the Friends' work and retain control of your assets during your lifetime. Create a legacy that reflects your values by making a bequest.
  • Outright Gifts and Cash: Simple to make. Maximize your charitable deduction and provide funds for Friends’ programs immediately.
  • Securities: Donating appreciated stocks, bonds or mutual funds is quick and simple and may provide you with significant tax benefits.
  • Life Insurance Gifts: Name the Friends of the North Carolina Accessible Books and Library Services as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy and save on estate taxes.
  • Retirement Plan Gifts: Name the Friends as a beneficiary of your IRA, 401k or other qualified plan through this tax-efficient gift.
